2:00 PM – 4:30 PM
The exhibition presents an inspiring invitation for artists to explore the theme of reimagining contemporary jewellery through the lens of history and personal narratives. Titled “Reimagine – Future Stories from Past Treasures,” it encourages reflection on how once-beloved pieces can be transformed to convey new stories, bridging the past, present, and future.
Showcasing a diverse array of works that embody creativity, innovation, and expertise, the exhibition highlights artists engaging with their personal and familial legacies. Through themes such as memory, loss, uncertainty, optimism, connection, and caution, the featured pieces reflect the evolving landscape of ornamentation and underscore adornment as a vital form of expression.
The exhibition also features donated works created for the Alberta Craft Gallery’s “Bling Bucket,” a project in which artists were invited to reclaim broken, once-cherished jewellery and transform it into new works of art.
In addition, the exhibition includes striking creations produced by students from the Alberta University of the Arts’ jewellery program.
Visitors are invited to engage with the reimagining of jewellery’s future, celebrating the transformative power of art to connect people with their histories, their environment, and one another.
