Growing up in Vernon’s Chinatown during the era of Chinese Exclusion, Larry Kwong would break stereotypes and barriers to become the first player of Asian descent in the NHL.
In The Shift, Larry Kwong recounts his experiences on and off the ice, supported by historians who establish the social context and by hockey legends like Jean Beliveau and Herb Carnegie who attest to his exceptional skill.
Produced in 2013, this 45-minute film was a best documentary finalist at the Alberta Film & TV Awards.
