Reframe watercolour within the context of contemporary art, challenging preconceived notions of what this medium can achieve. I don’t chase the perfect mark. Instead, I let the painting breathe, revealing its own history through translucent layers….. I like to refer to artwork painted in contemporary Watercolour and Inks as “living works of art.” Translating places into pigments, into works of art that hold a place within them a connection that resonates with the viewer! Controlled pigments only to a glimpse of premeditation, ending in energy transformation! To achieve this, my work is about the movement, manipulation and responding to colour transformations and the pigment itself. “Watercolour isn’t just a medium—it’s alive. The pigments shift, transform, and respond, shaping themselves into something unexpected. Noting that my works are painted on raw canvas and birch panels make you ponder if these are in fact Watercolours themselves!
