The Artist Talk will begin with a short introduction to Alberta Fibre Art by Tak Pham, Curator at the Alberta University of the Arts, Illingworth Kerr Gallery.
After the Artist talk, we will be joined downstairs on the second floor, in the Alberta Craft Gallery by Mackenzie for a short tour of his current exhibition – Drawn.
Mackenzie Kelly-Frère is an artist, educator and academic living in Mohkinstsis (Calgary). The exhibition examines cloth as a contextual object, enmeshing ways of thinking and being in the natural world. Kelly-Frère draws on his lived experience of both the Canadian Prairie and a recent artist residency in Blonduos, Iceland, to create cloth that reflects situated materialities and our connections to place.
