National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Honouring Indigenous Journeys Through Action
This September 30th, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reaffirm our commitment to honouring the history of residential schools and the ongoing work towards healing.
September 30, 2024.
We celebrate Indigenous artists and collaborators who have enriched our learning journey and acknowledge that reconciliation requires continuous action throughout the year.
This September, our partnership with Four Winds Indigenous Showcase & Market and Curiosity Refresh brought Indigenous artisans and performers to cSPACE Marda Loop, sharing cultural traditions that inspire and uplift.
We are proud to have worked with Dr. Leroy Little Bear in renaming our hub, “A Place for Creative Boundary Crossings,” and are reminded daily by his words on our Poet’s Walk of our responsibility to transform this former colonial school into a space for positive change.
With Nathan Meguinis’ mural, “We Are All Treaty People,” we embrace our shared role in the reconciliation process, guided by action #83 of the TRC Calls to Action.
Let us commemorate this day with meaningful steps toward reconciliation—pausing, reflecting, and listening. While we will not have programming here are some meaningful ways to observe this important day in Calgary:
