Connecting artists and creative entrepreneurs with underused commercial spaces to create in.
Calgary’s artistic community is embarking on an exciting journey, thanks to the innovative SPACEPILOT initiative by cSPACE Projects. With support from Calgary Arts Development (CADA) and the Alberta Real Estate Foundation (AREF), this groundbreaking project fosters curated partnerships between commercial real estate professionals and not-for-profit organizations, with a focus on those operating in the creative economy.

In 2023, 43,000 square feet of downtown commercial space was filled by the SPACEPILOT initiative, supporting diverse arts groups in temporary leases and helping activate our vacant city core.
Towards the end of 2024, SPACEPILOT is activating close to 63,000 square feet, supporting such success stories as The Alcove Centre for the Arts, and One Big Jam. In October 2024, we celebrated our success so far.

We have news!
Stride Gallery in moving from its current location in the Bell Block in Victoria Park. Stride has been renting out of the Bell Block since 1997, with nearly 3 decades of exhibitions, performances, fundraisers, and more taking place in our humble storefront.
We have made the difficult decision to leave our current space for a variety of reasons:
- We want to find ways to better serve our community, with new programming initiatives, which will will share later this summer.
- Our current space is physically inaccessible for both visitors and staff.
- Safety concerns on the block have heightened, affecting the way QTBIPOC staff and artists can access the space.
Over the next 6 months, we will be transitioning into our new meanwhile space, located at the cSPACE Atrium in the Beltline (220-625 11 Ave SW). This space will be temporary for us, as we prepare to find our permanent home in the coming years. We appreciate your patience as we move through this process, and know that we will keep the community updated throughout 2024.
We can`t wait to welcome you all back in January 2025 with the launch of our new programming.

In the tradition of Equinox Vigil, a shrine has been built with funeral memorabilia.
Join us for a gathering to talk about our beloveds and say their names out loud. Bring your funeral cards, obituaries, or write on-the-spot tributes and add to the shrine.
We`ll serve up funeral-inspired sandwiches, hot drinks (even some cold bevvies) and warm companionship to honour our memorializing. Smiles, tears (there will be hankies) and sharing memories bring us together for both the living and the dead.
Despite the frigid temperatures, it’s toasty warm inside this historic building. Underground parking is available at Eau Claire Market and we`re just across from the Joey`s restaurant.
