SUMMARY:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents Right Hand Woman
DESCRIPTION:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents Right Hand Woman by Jocelyn Mah\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 4 – RGO Treehouse (North)\nMarch 17\, 2026\n8:45 PM – 9:15 PM \n  \nTICKETS \n\nDeftly traversing the boundaries between dance\, theatre\, and puppetry\, Right Hand Woman is a comical feminist battle cry that shines a spotlight on the effects of misogyny on artists with the lived experience of womanhood. This short excerpt from the work offers a surrealist glimpse into Jocelyn’s “living womb\,” reaffirming and rejoicing in the performance of womanhood as a never-ending rebellion that persists—even in the face of death.\nIncubator Year 1 Presentation \nThe presentation is accompanied by an artist talk\, featuring visual materials and reflections on the piece’s creation\, a show-and-tell of the production’s puppets with designer and builder Juanita Dawn\, and an open Q&A that invites curiosity and collective exchange with the audience.

SUMMARY:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents The Light of the Deep
DESCRIPTION:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents The Light of the Deep with Landon Krentz\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 4 – RGO Treehouse\nMarch 17\, 2026\n8:00 PM – 8:30 PM \n  \nTICKETS \n\n\nIncubator Year 1 Presentation\nThe Light of the Deep is a Sumain-led physical theatre and Visual Vernacular (VV) performance that follows two archetypal figures\, the Fisherperson and the Miner\, on an epic\, image-driven journey. Drawn together by a single glowing firefly\, they struggle\, collaborate\, and transform as they seek either to possess or to share the light.\nThe Fisherperson pursues his catch\, protective and stubborn. The Miner searches for gold\, driven by the desire to share what they discover. Along the way\, the light itself evolves\, shifting from firefly\, to moon\, to lightning\, to anglerfish bait\, constantly testing their relationship and philosophies. Through puppetry\, projection design\, and richly detailed VV\, the performance creates a dreamlike world of wetlands\, caves\, storms\, and oceanic depths.\nAt its heart\, The Light of the Deep asks: is light meant to be held close\, or set free for others? Through physical storytelling experienced by both Deaf and hearing audiences\, the performance explores themes of possession\, generosity\, and release.\nIn the final moments\, both characters achieve what they sought\, the Fisherperson catches a fish\, and the Miner unearths gold\, but realize their true task is to let the light go. What begins as a struggle over ownership resolves as a shared act of release\, offering audiences a visually striking meditation on longing\, freedom\, and the beauty of letting go.\nAdvisories & Accessibility:\nThemes of fear\nRuntime: 45 minutes\nThe Treehouse is located on the third floor of cSPACE Marda Loop\, which is a wheelchair accessible venue.\nIf you are a wheelchair user\, please select the wheelchair accessible ticket.\nIf you are purchasing a wheelchair accessible ticket\, please let us know in the notes if you will be accompanied by a non-wheelchair user.\nFor more information about the accessibility of the venue\, including a video walkthrough\, please visit: https://www.puppetfestival.ca/accessibility/cspace-marda-loop

SUMMARY:RECEPTION: Festival of Animated Objects Enchanted Matter Artist Reception
DESCRIPTION:Reception: Festival of Animated Objects Enchanted Matter Artist Reception\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1 Hallway Gallery\nMarch 17\, 2026\n5:00 PM – 7:00 PM \nRSVP FOR FREE \n\n\n“Enchanted Matter: Puppetry\, Animation and Magic” invites audiences into a world where imagination brings the inanimate to life.\nThis exhibition celebrates the power of puppetry and video art together; art forms that not only bridge sculpture\, theatre\, and storytelling\, but are also imbued with spells and intention.\nThe artworks featured in this exhibition blur the boundaries between stillness and motion\, material and spirit. They conjure movement within stillness\, give breath to the lifeless\, and awaken the mythical beings within these objects.\nEach artwork pulses with the intent of its maker\, reflected in the characters\, scenery and videos featured throughout the exhibition. For each of these artists\, the process is just as important as the final creation.\nHidden sigils of empowerment\, appreciation for the small things that surround them\, and a reconnection with inner playfulness and whimsy\, all inform what moves these artists to create.\n“Enchanted Matter: Puppetry\, Animation and Magic” welcomes you to explore the work of Abbey Leach\, Kathy Austin and Stephanie Quilliams\, and to witness the magic that fills the gallery.\nAdvisories and Accessibility: \nRuntime: 2 hours\nThis exhibition takes place on the first floor of cSPACE Marda Loop\, which is a wheelchair accessible venue.\nFor more information about the accessibility of the venue\, including a video walkthrough\, please visit: https://www.puppetfestival.ca/accessibility/cspace-marda-loop

SUMMARY:PERFORMANCE: My Great Work by David Espinosa
DESCRIPTION:PERFORMANCE: My Great Work by David Espinosa\n  \ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1 – Studio Theatre\nFebruary 6\, 2026\n7:00 PM – 8:00 PM \n  \nWorking with the mindset of an architect\, Espinosa constructs a vast “mega-production” with miniature figures\, objects\, and a tabletop that is both stage and world. This intimate performance\, designed for just 20 spectators seated around a table\, transforms models typically used to plan buildings into a space where ideas\, images\, and actions unfold with surprising emotional force. \n“My Great Work is what I would do if I had an unlimited budget\, the largest theatre in the world\, 300 actors on stage\, a military orchestra\, a rock band\, animals\, cars and a helicopter.” -D. Espinosa \nAt a scale of 1:87\, My Great Work captures the grandeur of human existence with the humblest of means. A marvel of simple\, visual storytelling\, it connects us to each other with infinite complexity. \nMy Great Work reflects on the precarious conditions under which most artists operate\, where creativity often emerges from scarcity rather than abundance. By shrinking an extravagant spectacle down to miniature scale\, Espinosa exposes the contradictions of large\, high-budget cultural productions: their excess\, their fragility\, and their relative artistic value. \nA playful yet incisive portrait of the world we build and the dreams we chase\, My Great Work is as intimate as it is expansive. \nAdvisories and Accessibility\n\nFor mature audiences\nLimited to 20 spectators per performance.\n\nFor detailed information about the venue’s accessibility and barriers\, please visit https://www.puppetfestival.ca/accessibility/cspace-marda-loop \nWhen checking out\, there is a field to enter your accessibility requirements. Please let us know if you are a wheelchair user so our ushers are prepared to reserve a space for you. If you do not have accessibility requirements\, please write N/A. \nStudents and audience members needing lower-cost tickets may use the code MGWSTUDT for $25 tickets. \n  \n Tickets & Information: www.showpass.com/my-great-work/?no-cache=1
