Guided by renowned fibre artist Lyn Pflueger\, feel the soft wool transform under your fingertips using the meditative art of wet felting. Then\, dive into the world of Shibori\, the centuries-old Japanese resist-dyeing techniques that produce mesmerizing patterns in rich\, soulful indigo. \nThis beginner-friendly class is perfect for anyone curious about the world of fibrecraft. Unplug for an afternoon and rediscover the joy of making something with your hands. All materials are provided—just bring your imagination\, and leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art! \nA bit about your Instructor: \nLyn Pflueger was born and raised in Sydney\, Australia\, and now lives in Bragg Creek. She graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design with a BFA and taught as a sessional instructor in their fibre department. Lyn is part of the Sheep Creek Weavers and continues to teach textile techniques. Her personal interests include felt making\, the structure of surfaces\, the properties of textile materials\, shibori dyeing and texture technqiues.

DESCRIPTION:Shout out to all Craftivists\, Sewists\, DIYers\, Designers\, and Artists!\nIt’s our 3rd edition of Fabric Swap! Come join us! We all have fabric that we love but may never use\, right? Let’s stir up some new inspirational energy and trade with each other! We will have tables set up inside and outside our studio for you to lay down your fabric\, and peruse what each other has contributed. \nThe rules for Fabric Swap are: \n\nClean\, useable fabrics only\n1 meter or more – no less!*\nBe thoughtful about the items you take\, and what you will make. Take what inspires you but also leave some for others to be inspired:)\nYou are not obligated to take anything with you\, but please also be thoughtful about the amount you drop off to us.\nNo notions or tools\nNo clothing\nBring a bag to tote home your finds\nThe tables will be out all day on April 12\, from 11am to 3 pm – come chat with fellow fabric enthusiasts! Bring in and take home some fabric! DESCRIPTION:Come explore how to deconstruct and reconstruct clothing into one-of-a-kind pieces of your own.\nIn this class\, students will learn techniques on how to take apart\, and put back together clothing* to create new fashion pieces of their own. From appliqué and patches to making a vest from a jacket\, the possibilities are whatever one can imagine (within the functionality of construction;))! And with the right instruction\, it can be fun and sew much fun to dive into! \n*A few weeks prior to class students will be contacted by the instructor to get a feel for what your projects are. \nThis course is two 4-hour sessions each. SUMMARY:Sewing 101 with Ryoko Work/Shop
DESCRIPTION:Come learn how to sew\, and start making your own projects.\nJoin us in the spacious and inspiring new Riyoko Work/Shop and learn the fundamental beginner skills to get on your way to exploring and creating! In this class\, students will learn their way around the machine through various projects and gain the foundational sewing skills to translate into future projects for themselves. Students will learn how to read patterns\, and how to choose fabrics and patterns right for the projects they are making. They will make a reversible\, lined gift bag\, pyjama pants\, and learn how to hem pants\, and sew zippers. The skills of sewing can seem daunting\, but with the right instruction\, it can be fun and sew much easier than you think! \nThis course is three 3-hour sessions. The next sessions are: \nMonday March 3\, 10 & 17 – 6 pm to 9 pm \nor \nFriday April 4\, 11 & 25 – 10 am to 1 pm \nor \nMay 12\, 26 & June 2 – 6 pm to 9 pm
