SUMMARY:Songs of Manyselves
DESCRIPTION:A personal mythography of land\, family\, and belonging\, for six singers\, narrator\, and ensemble.\n\n\nSongs of Manyselves \nJoin us for the unveiling of a work-in-progress drama for six singers\, narrator\, and ensemble! The evening will feature new music and graphic poetry\, written and composed by Sebastian Harmon Hutchings\, exploring a non-linear narrative of their relationship to landscape and family heritage. Attempting a reckoning through shimmering beauty\, the telling stitches together the ways that we frame ourselves\, many selves living in a body\, many selves living in a landscape. \n \nFeaturing: \nMisha Maseka – Flowering Self \nAllison Lynch – Protector Self \nDallas Hayes-Sparks – Grieving Self \nTayte Mitchell – Red Self \nBranden Olsen – Reckoner \nKristian Lo – Silver Shifting Self \nGenevieve Micheletti – Violin \nKathleen De Caen – Cello \nJiajia Li – Flute & Bass Flute \nNatalia Peric – Clarinet & Bass Clarinet \nMark Dejong – Alto & Tenor Saxophones \nChris Sies – Percussion \nJanna Sailor – Music Director \n \nWe acknowledge the support of Canada Council for the Arts\, Alberta Foundation for the Arts\, and Calgary Arts Development.

SUMMARY:Kathy Lewis: Artist Reception
DESCRIPTION:Kathy’s First Art Show \nFrom the moment she attended her first ‘plein air’ drawing class as a child\, Kathy Lewis has been a true artist at heart. Her artistic pursuits are as rich and varied as her life experiences\, with both often intertwined. Now in retirement\, Kathy would love to realize her longstanding dream of exhibiting her art in a gallery for her loved ones and the public to see. \nKathy has always been a dedicated student of her craft. She took an “Intro to Art” course while studying at University of Lethbridge. Then\, she enrolled in a weaving course at a small art school. She also has a certificate in Interior Design from Mount Royal College. In retirement\, she has attended painting classes at Kerby Centre\, Swinton Studios\, and a gallery class at The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York. In 1972\, she was selected by a jury of local British Columbia artists to weave an abstract tapestry for the municipality of Vancouver. The project\, which took five months to complete\, was displayed in the lobby of Vancouver City Hall and later in the Planning Department Boardroom. She also showcased her work in the Western Arts and Crafts displays at the Calgary Stampede. \nKathy has been a resident of Chartwell Fountains of Mission since October 2023. Her walls are adorned with beautiful paintings\, and she is an active participant in resident activities. In addition to her artistic pursuits\, Kathy has supported various charities including Calgary Food Bank\, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation\, and Calgary Homeless Foundation. Kathy’s wish to have a gallery exhibition for her art would fulfill a desire to impact people with her work\, including her friends\, family\, and fellow residents. \nThe Chartwell Foundation is pleased to arrange a gallery exhibition of Kathy’s work! Kathy’s art will be on display at cSPACE Marda Loop\, an acclaimed arts and culture hub in Calgary\, from June 10 to June 29\, with an opening reception on June 26 where Kathy will celebrate with her loved ones.
