SUMMARY:Northern Dreams
DESCRIPTION:Artist Statement – Inna Nagaytseva\nIn a week my personal exhibition “Northern Dreams” will open in Calgary.\n\n\n\nNorthern Dreams is not just watercolour paintings. This is the strength and beauty of the most picturesque places for me. They symbolize silence and tranquility\, they move consciousness to where the soul connects with nature\, which for me\, as an artist\, is a very important factor in the development of a person. I invite you to visit these places with me\, through my paintings\, which I painted with extraordinary love.\n\n\n\nAll works presented at the exhibition are available for purchase\, 20% of sales will be sent to help families in Ukraine.\n\n\n\nIf you are unable to attend Calgary\, the exhibition will be available online on my website. To purchase a painting\, you can contact me through the feedback form on the site or by e-mail\, which is indicated next to the images.\n\n\n\nAll paintings are unique and have a certificate of authenticity.\n\n\n\nI really hope that my paintings will be able to touch your hearts and you will plunge into the magical world of watercolor with me.\n\n\ninnanagaytseva.com/northerndreams

SUMMARY:Allergic to Water
DESCRIPTION:Allergic to Water\nA dark comedy about the world’s most famous mermaid \n A special presentation by \nInside Out Theatre & Wee Witches \n JUNE 8th & 9th @ 7:30 pm\, JUNE 10th @ 2:00 pm\n@ cSPACE Marda Loop (1721 29th St SW) \nDiscussion Panel June 10th after 2pm Show. The post-show discussion panel aims to offer an opportunity for our audience to engage in a conversation that extends beyond the show. It will offer a space to foster both an artistic conversation and a social conversation about the realities of chronic illness. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAllergic to Water\, created by Jacqueline Russell and performed in collaboration with musician Jeremy Gignoux\, tells the story of Melusina\, a mermaid trapped in a human body. Melusina develops a mysterious chronic illness that leaves her unable to work or function. As she attempts to navigate the medical system to find answers\, her attempts to be a credible witness for her body are dismissed\, ignored and pathologized. The show explores the gendered implications of chronic illness\, and the ways in which women struggle to be heard and believed by the medical system.  Allergic to Water explores how humour\, parody\, and ridiculousness can deconstruct expectations about the often-unwitnessed experience of chronic pain and tell a different story. \nMature Content Warnings: Top half nudity with “pasties”\, foul language\nTrigger Warnings: Discussion of chronic illness and medical trauma

SUMMARY:Yabber: A Musical Junk Tale
DESCRIPTION:Join Mudfoot Theatre for a joy fueled puppet and mask show.\nIn the town of Yabber\, things are not looking good. Twinkledoins have lost their twinkle and Yonda\, the heart of Yabber\, grows weak. SUMMARY:Chakra Balancing and Breathwork with Susanne Grochnal
DESCRIPTION:Discover the Wisdom Within!\n\n“My experience with sue was powerful and mind opening.  Her calm voice helped to walk me through some amazing personal discoveries. Afterwards\, I was left energized and with a certain sense of relief.” ~ Shawn Leland\, Calgary \n\n\n“In my experience; Sue has been healing the world and its beings long since before she birthed into this world. Her compassion and dedication to her work is felt deeply. Matched with support\, peace and depth\, she was able to take me down a path of deep connection\, healing\, and reclamation. The people of Hong Kong marched — 1 million strong\, then 2 million — to save what they saw as the city’s eroding freedoms and rule of law. When their demands went unheeded\, the protests intensified\, and the streets of Hong Kong became soaked in tear gas and blood as valiant frontline protesters clashed with riot police. Behind the frontliners stood a peaceful silent majority\, committed to a hard-won solidarity as they attempt to save the city that they love. \n“Love in the Time of Revolution” takes viewers onto the streets of Hong Kong\, to the very front lines of the protests\, and follows the stories of just some of the protesters and their fellow Hong Kong citizens. It tells their extraordinary stories: the stories of ordinary people at a pivotal moment in their city’s history\, as they experience hope and desperation\, love and heartbreak\, fighting for their home. \n*設映後坐談，可與導演於線上對談 \n*There will be a hybird post-screening discussion session with the director.

SUMMARY:We Don’t Bite – Come\, Meet an Artist! Shaun Hunter
DESCRIPTION:Have you always wanted to meet an artist? Now’s your chance! Dale Lee Kwong hosts a daily meet and greet featuring different artists from the Calgary area. There will be a short interview at 12 noon to learn about the artist\, their creative practice and any Q and A\, followed by an open house. Ask anything you want\, artists don’t bite! \nShaun Hunter is a Calgary-based writer\, reader and public historian passionate about the city’s\nliterary landscape. Her book Calgary Through the Eyes of Writers (2018) offers a journey around\nCalgary\, from its frontier beginnings to today’s contemporary city. During her term as Historian\nin Residence at the Calgary Public Library (2020)\, she created a digital literary map of Calgary\nmarking over 500 sites. \nShaun has a particular interest in 1920s Calgary – a fascinating\, largely forgotten decade when a\ndiverse community of writers set out to build a local literary culture. Her Lougheed House\nexhibit Storied City: Early Calgary through the Eyes of Writers (2020) celebrated a cast of real-\nlife literary personalities from the era. Recently\, Shaun collaborated with local artist Eveline\nKolijn to produce City of Romance: The Literary World of 1920s Calgary\, part of the Calgary\nAtlas Project. \nShaun’s explorations in the 1920s local literary scene include the Calgary years of Winnifred\nEaton Reeve aka Onoto Watanna (1875-1954)\, the Chinese-Canadian writer who lived and\nwrote here during the era of Chinese exclusion. This summer Shaun will lead a walking tour to\ntwo of the places Reeve called home – one of the many public events on offer during the\n“Onoto Watanna’s Cattle at 100” conference being held in Calgary July 27 to 29. \nWebsite: www.shaunhunter.ca and on \nTwitter @ShaunMHunter

SUMMARY:Between Two Worlds: An Evening of Mediumship with Andy Byng
DESCRIPTION:Andy will be delivering messages of love and encouragement from your friends and loved ones in the Spirit World\n\nWorld renowned medium Andy Byng\, who was also featured on Netflix’s Surviving Death\, will be touring Canada during 2023 and 2024. Known for his level of detail and accuracy\, Andy will be delivering messages of love and encouragement from your loved ones in the Spirit World.\n\n\nA B O U T  A N D Y \nAndy’s greatest passion has always been to publicly demonstrate his mediumship\, and to teach others how to develop their own gifts. \nAlthough Andy had been aware of the spirit world from a young age\, he did not begin to develop his mediumship until he was eighteen-years-old. Andy completed most of his mediumistic development at the world-renowned Arthur Findlay College\, where he is now a tutor and course organiser. \nAlthough Andy originally hails from Birmingham (UK)\, his work as a Evidential Medium takes him across the world\, and he currently resides in Toronto\, Canada. Andy’s passion and dedication to the spirit world is clear: He works tirelessly to reunite people with their loved ones\, and to teach others how to develop their own mediumship. \nAndy is now embarking on a tour of Canada to take his renowned mediumship across the country\, reuniting people with the loved ones through his accurate and heartfelt mediumship. \nT H E  E V E N T \nDuring the evening\, Andy will become aware of your loved ones in the Spirit World\, and through the use of factual pieces of information\, it is his job to tell the story of how your loved ones lived and expressed themselves during their physical lives. \nAt its best\, mediumship has the potential to change lives\, by opening our minds to the reality that when the physical bodily experiences the process we called death\, the mind – or soul – which constitutes our personality\, self-consciousness\, intelligence and reason\, survive. Mediumship demonstrates to us that although not physically present in our lives anymore\, our friends and loved ones who have passed away are still with us\, and continue to have a loving and encouraging presence within our lives. \nIf you have never been to an Evening of Mediumship before\, there is nothing untoward or mysterious that will happen. To get an idea of what the evening will be like\, please check out the video above of Andy demonstrating his mediumship.
