DESCRIPTION:Building Blocks by Sean Drysdale\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nGallery Level 3\nOctober 7 – November 1\, 2025\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\nSean Drysdale returns to cSPACE with version 3 of Building Blocks\, an exhibition of large images. \n\nArtist’s Talk:  \nThursday\, October 16 | 5:30pm-7:45pm \nIn Attendance:  \n\nWednesday\, October 8 | 6-8pm\nSaturday October 25 | 1-3pm\nSaturday November 1 | 1-3pm\nOr by arrangement\n\nClosing Reception: \nThursday\, October 30 | 5:00-7:30pm \nAbout the Artist: \nSean Drysdale graduated from Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1984\, where he studied photography. Subsequent studies in mathematics and computers at Simon Fraser University led to a career in information management. \nHe returned to photography as an art form in 2016. By 2023\, he concluded that the world did not need another photographer. The label had always felt like a shirt occasionally worn but never entirely comfortable. Instead\, he began calling himself a wanderer—a description that felt far more fitting. To Drysdale\, this is a liberating and playful identity\, one that frees them from unhelpful personal expectations and existential questions such as what defines a “real” photographer.

DESCRIPTION:Explore key financial reporting\, budgeting\, and forecasting concepts to strengthen NFP financial understanding and decision-making.\n\n\nAs part of the Rozsa Foundations’ ongoing commitment to supporting Alberta arts leaders\, this Intersections session (part of the Rozsa Foundations of Arts Leadership program) is being made available to arts leaders outside of the program. \nUnder the leadership of Dr. Peggy Hedges of the Haskayne School of Business\, the session will explore some of the essential elements of financial reporting\, cash flow\, forecasting\, and budgeting that often challenges not-for-profit organizations. It will spend time navigating and analyzing financial statements to gain a further appreciation for how the priorities and characteristics of organizations\, along with decisions\, can impact these statements and financial forecasting. The session will investigate the similarities of financial forecasting in the budgeting and grant application processes. \nBy the end of this session participants will be able to: \n* Identify essential elements of financial reporting\, cash flow\, forecasting and budgeting \n* Calculate and interpret a few financial ratios that can be used to provide insights into areas which need further analysis \n* Perform a basic break-even analysis to support a strategic decision

A deeply personal and vibrant musical journey into the singer herself\, this project pays homage to her roots by fusing the traditions of Mexican and Latin American folk music with contemporary jazz\, flamenco\, salsa\, and huapango elements.  \nGisela’s performances\, predominantly in Spanish\, are imbued with romanticism and the rich\, vibrant flavours of Latin culture. Accompanied by a group of versatile and fine musicians in the scene — Esteban Herrera on piano\, Luis Tovar on percussion\, Daniel Nava on bass\, Jorge Villena on acoustic guitar\, and David Lavoie on trumpet—this project transforms traditional sounds into fresh\, expressive arrangements.  \nGisela Romero is a celebrated singer known for her captivating performances that blend Mexican traditional music\, Latin American rhythms\, and Latin jazz. Born in León\, Guanajuato\, Mexico\, Gisela moved to Calgary\, Alberta\, Canada in 2008\, where she has since established herself as a prominent figure in the music scene. With four albums to her name\, Gisela’s evocative voice and passionate performances have earned her critical acclaim and several prestigious nominations. She was nominated for the YYC Music Awards in 2019\, 2021\, and 2023. Additionally\, in 2023\, she received a nomination for the BreakOut West Awards in the Global Artist of the Year category. Gisela’s performances\, predominantly in Spanish\, are imbued with romanticism and the rich\, vibrant flavors of Latin culture. DESCRIPTION:Great Treasures of Gold: A Canadian Latter-day Saint Religious Art Exhibition\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 3 & 4 \nNovember 7 – November 27\, 2025\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays)\nOpening Reception: November 6 | 6:30-9:00pm \nThis exhibition celebrates the rich tradition of Latter-day Saint art in Canada\, featuring nearly 100 original works by both living and deceased Canadian artists. The showcase highlights the diverse expressions of faith and creativity that have emerged within the community. \nThe title\, “Great Treasures of Gold\,” is inspired by a conversation between early pioneer Charles Card and Samuel Smith\, the brother of Joseph Smith\, Jr. Smith recalled a prophecy made in an 1843 priesthood meeting within the Nauvoo Temple\, in which it was stated that “[Canada] would never persecute the Saints as a nation. She would gather up great treasures of gold and yet we should seek refuge in her dominion.” \nThe phrase “Great Treasures of Gold” symbolizes not only the material wealth Canada was prophesied to gather\, but also the spiritual and cultural richness accumulated over more than a century of Latter-day Saint presence in the country. This exhibition pays tribute to the enduring artistic legacy that has flourished within this land of refuge.

DESCRIPTION:Finding Peace & Joy Within\nThis weekly meditation group for CALL members has returned by popular request. Each session includes periods of meditation (sitting comfortably in chairs) to allow participants the opportunity to experience the benefits for themselves\, and the opportunity to share experiences and insights with others. About half of the session will be talk/discussion and about half will be meditation. \nIf you are not a CALL member\, you can join for the annual fee of $50 and attend this and many other interest groups.
