SUMMARY:Exposure Photography Festival: Ian Gregory\, Since I’ve Moved
DESCRIPTION:Cubby Gallery (Level 2)\n+ Cupola Gallery (Level 4)\nMonth of February \nArtist Statement\nA series in-progress\, since immigrating to Canada in 2016. This work documents my unfolding relationship with the vast emptiness of the prairies. While I was instantly drawn to this province’s postcard mountainscapes\, I quickly realized that driving alone along long stretches of flatland highway stirred deeper feelings in me. These miles have become the road home. \n— \nAbout the Artist\nIan Martin Gregory grew up in Chelmsford\, England and moved to Canada in 2016. He is a self-taught musician\, letterpress printer\, and photographer. He is also a cSPACE tenant. Find him at Feast Studio on the second floor.

SUMMARY:Exposure Photography Festival: Alive\, She Cried (curated)
DESCRIPTION:Level 1 Hallway Gallery\n\nFebruary 3 – March 1 \nLive performance photography plays a vital role in the thriving rock and roll music scene\, serving not just as documentation but as an art form unto itself. \nCapturing the fervor\, emotion and charisma of a live performance requires a photographer to have spontaneous artistry\, decisiveness\, and the ability to stay tuned to the music and audience in order to get the perfect picture. Done well\, a live performance photo can become a time capsule\, taking you right to the edge of a stage\, where the pulse of the lights\, the energy of a crowd and movement of the music collide into an iconic still frame. \nAs part of the Exposure Festival\, a collection of Calgary-based photographers present “Alive\, She Cried”\, a celebration of live music\, and the photography that gives the performance life after the stage lights have gone down. Curated by Cary Schatz and Kirsten Aubrey\, the show delivers raw images from the pit.

SUMMARY:Worlds in Motion curated by Claudia Chagoya + Tia DeLauria
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Level 1\ncSPACE Marda Loop \nAs part of the Festival of Animated Objects \nWorlds in Motion delves into the interplay between art\, movement\, and imagination.\nFrom mechanical wonders\, handcrafted puppets and automatons\, this exhibition invites the viewers to engage\, play\, and create their own stories through the work of Rob Ward\, Pam Atkinson and Jenny Dale Stables. \nThe artworks are interactive\, tactile\, and transformative. They serve as conduits of emotions and metaphors that weave fantastic and whimsical narratives\, fostering a unique relationship between the audience and the artwork itself. In addition\, the incorporation of recycled materials adds a compelling dimension to this dialogue. By reimagining what might otherwise be discarded\, these artworks honor the potential for renewal and transformation. They challenge perceptions of waste and consumption\, positioning sustainability not just as an ethic but as a muse for innovation. \nIn other words\, Worlds in Motion is a convergence of resourcefulness\, sustainability\, and emotional resonance\, in an ever-evolving interplay that connects us to creativity itself. This exhibition highlights the dynamic rhythm of these creations\, transcending static existence\, they became pivotal agents of personal and collective expression.

SUMMARY:Worlds in Motion Artist Reception with Claudia Chagoya + Tia DeLauria
DESCRIPTION:FESTIVAL OF ANIMATED OBJECTS EVENT\n\nFree Artist Reception – Level 1 cSPACE Marda Loop\nJoin us for an artist’s reception with food and beverages in the first floor hallway of cSPACE Marda Loop! \n\nWorlds in Motion delves into the interplay between art\, movement\, and imagination. \nFrom mechanical wonders\, handcrafted puppets and automatons\, this exhibition invites the viewers to engage\, play\, and create their own stories through the work of Rob Ward\, Pam Atkinson and Jenny Dale Stables.
