SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Flow by Riverview Artists
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Flow by Riverview Artists\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 2 Gallery\nJune 2 – June 14\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \nOpening Reception: June 4\, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM \n  \nStep into FLOW\, a dynamic exhibition celebrating the creative energy and evolving practices of the Riverview Artists. Hosted in the 2nd Floor Gallery at cSPACE Marda Loop\, this show brings together a diverse range of works that explore movement\, process\, and the rhythm of artistic expression. Each piece reflects the unique voice of its maker while contributing to a larger\, interconnected narrative of creativity in motion. Meet the artists in person at the opening—an opportunity to connect directly\, hear the stories behind the work\, and acquire pieces with a deeper sense of meaning and provenance. \nAlongside the exhibition\, JFG will be sharing How to Sit With Someone—a book grounded in the quiet\, powerful act of being present with one another. This work comes from years of lived experience and a deep respect for human connection at the heart of peer support. Making this book feel both reassuring and practical. At the Show Opening\, John will be there in person to connect\, sign books\, and continue the conversation beyond the page. \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: No Mistakes Art Show by National AccessArts Centre
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: No Mistakes Art Show by National AccessArts Centre\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1 Gallery\nJune 2 – June 29\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \nOpening Reception: June 8\, 4PM-6PM \n\n\nIn partnership with National accessArts Centre\, Eve Johnson will bring together the strange and the curious in a celebration of mistakes and risk-taking. \nAbout the Exhibition\nHave you ever made a mistake? Have you ever loved the place a creative misstep led you to?\nHave you ever felt possessed by an otherworldly being when you make art?\nAre you anti-perfection? Are you trying to become an anti-perfectionist?\nHave you made something that turned out horrible\, but then your friend’s aunt actually really liked it?\nAre you weird?\nDo you use materials in an unconventional way?\nDoes your creative process embrace radical risk taking?\nDid people in art school make fun of you?\nDo you feel compelled to make strange objects? \nNo Mistakes is an exhibition that celebrates the strange\, the curious\, and the unconventional. \n\n\nAbout the Curator\nEve M Johnson is a curator working in Calgary\, Alberta\, Canada. Her journey into the art world was unusual. She began making art at an early age\, exploring creation throughout her childhood. As an adult\, she attended the Alberta University of The Arts. This was not meant to be and she left soon after\, but developed strong skills in thinking and speaking about art.  She also developed a passion for unusual art that was overlooked by mainstream arts institutions\, often preferring the art of students who got bad grades in her classes. \nIn 2021\, Eve Joined the National Access Arts Center\,  and once again her liberal arts skills stood out. She quickly was invited to discussions with international arts organizations. These organizations dealt with disability\, outsider\, and marginal art. She expanded her passion for  overlooked artists and their work. She attended both the 2022 and 2024 beginning conferences \, and was a speaker at the 2024 event. Currently\, Eve is an advisory board member at the Illingworth Kerr gallery. She is thrilled at working to curate her very first show! \n\n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Focus On by Alliance Française
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Focus On by Alliance Française\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 3 Gallery\nJune 2 – June 29\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \nOpening Reception: June 5 @ 6:15PM \n  \n\n\nMore than a photography exhibition.\nA collection of perspectives.\nA mosaic of details\, emotions\, textures\, and untold stories. \nWe invite you to discover FOCUS ON\, a collaborative photography exhibition bringing together over 40 photographers and more than 250 submitted photographs\, each offering a unique and deeply personal interpretation of the theme. \nFrom fleeting shadows to quiet smiles\, urban fragments to intimate moments\, every image invites you to slow down\, observe differently\, and reconnect with the beauty hidden in ordinary life. \nSome photographs whisper.\nOthers linger.\nAll of them have a story to tell. \nDuring the exhibition\, you will be able to discover not only the selected works\, but also the stories\, memories\, and emotions behind each photograph revealing why these moments mattered enough to be captured. \n\n\nAbout the Exhibition\nFOCUS ON explores the idea of bringing attention to something specific within a frame:\na gesture\, a texture\, a reflection\, a corner of a building\, a movement\, a silence. The exhibition celebrates photography as a way of noticing what often goes unseen — transforming everyday fragments into poetic visual narratives. Through different styles\, cultures\, and artistic sensibilities\, the participating photographers invite viewers to look closer\, pause longer\, and rediscover the extraordinary hidden inside the ordinary. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Event: Fésojáiyé Night
DESCRIPTION:Event: Fésojáiyé Night. A night of culture\, arts and mental health conversations \ncSPACE Marda Loop\nStudio Theatre – Level 1\nJune 7\, 2026\n6:00 PM – 8:00PM \nRSVP: Free \n\nStep into an evening of art\, storytelling\, advocacy\, and human connection at the inaugural FESOJAIYE Night in Calgary. \nRooted in community and care\, this first gathering brings people together for a powerful conversation on mental health\, dementia awareness\, caregiving\, and healing. FESOJAIYE Night creates an intimate space where art becomes a bridge for deeper understanding\, reflection\, and collective action. \nRenowned speakers will guide guests through an illuminating evening; unpacking what dementia is\, the realities of living with it\, common myths\, and practical ways to support those affected\, followed by an open Q&A. The evening will also highlight real stories from people living with dementia\, their caregivers\, and healthcare professionals. \nThe evening will also feature an art exhibition and silent auction\, with proceeds supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area (BBBS). Dementia does not only affect the person diagnosed\, it reshapes entire families. Children who grow up with a grandparent or parent living with dementia often face emotional challenges\, social isolation\, and a loss of connection that can be difficult to navigate alone. BBBS of Calgary and Area provides young people with consistent\, caring mentors who offer the stability\, guidance\, and support that family illness can sometimes disrupt. By donating to BBBS of Calgary and Area\, proceeds from this event extend our commitment beyond awareness\, directly investing in the wellbeing of the next generation affected by dementia in our community. \nJoin us for an unforgettable night of portraits\, conversation\, culture\, and purpose\, where stories are honoured\, awareness is raised\, and community comes together for a cause that touches us. \n\nAbout Fesojaiye\n\nFESOJAIYE was born from the desire of two brothers (Samuel and Tunde Obadero) to celebrate and honour the living legacy of their father\, Mr. Emmanuel Olayiwola Obadero (aka Fesojaiye\, CEO Of Fesojaiye Cabinet Maker) who lives with and continues to fight dementia every day. \nAs a photographer\, Sam has always understood the power of art to tell stories\, bring people together\, and shine a light on causes that matter. FESOJAIYE Nights was created with that purpose in mind\, launching an annual event series dedicated to meaningful conversations\, community connection\, and impact. \nThrough photography\, spoken word\, mixed media\, painting\, and other art forms\, FESOJAIYE brings communities together to drive advocacy\, raise awareness\, and support important causes connected to mental health\, dementia\, caregiving\, and community wellbeing.
