It’s a celebration of women who are part of a growing movement to challenge the false narrative that beauty fades with age. \nThe Fabulous Over 40 Art Exhibit shines a spotlight on the portraits and stories of women aged 40 and up. \nInstead of being shamed into the shadows\, each of these women chose to step into the light. \nThey said yes to a transformative boudoir portrait experience. They said yes to being seen. Boldly\, vulnerably\, and without apology. \nThe goal? To rewrite the story: Women over 40 are beautiful. The ticking clock is a myth. And the years ahead are something to look forward to. \nAs an artist and photographer\, my mission is to challenge outdated beauty standards and offer a new perspective. One that I see for myself every day as a boudoir photographer for women over 40. We’ve been sold a lie. There is no expiration date on beauty. Let me prove it to you! \nThis exhibit is proof that beauty exists in every chapter of life\, and that it’s never too late to feel truly seen. \nAbout the Artist \nWebsite: www.lauriemacbrownphotography.com \nYou may know me as your photographer\, but what you might not know is why I do this. \nI started photographing women to figure out the secret to looking good in photos\, because I never liked photos of myself\, and I thought there was something wrong with me. What I’ve learned is this: being photogenic is not about how you look on the outside. It’s about feeling beautiful and having someone capture that so you can see it too. \nToday\, I’m an accredited\, multi award-winning portrait photographer\, and my mission is to show women\, especially those over 40\, that every body is beautiful and worthy of being photographed\, even without clothes on. \nI invite you to see yourself\, and women like you\, in a whole new light.

DESCRIPTION:Abstrait Liquide by Patricia Lortie\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nGallery Level 3\nSeptember 9 – October 6\, 2025\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\nThe Alliance Française is delighted to host “Abstrait Liquide” by Patricia Lortie. \nHer work — including installations\, paintings\, sculptures\, and videos — explores the body’s connection to natural ecosystems\, blending the real and the unconscious to reveal a poetic sensibility. \n“Abstrait Liquide” is a series of acrylic paintings inspired by the movement of natural water systems. Filmed above and below the surface\, subtle ripples\, reflections\, and light guide each brushstroke. The works capture fleeting moments of water\, inviting reflection on nature’s rhythms and patterns. \nThe exhibition will be on view from September 9 to October 6. DESCRIPTION:Finding Peace & Joy Within\nThis weekly meditation group for CALL members has returned by popular request. Each session includes periods of meditation (sitting comfortably in chairs) to allow participants the opportunity to experience the benefits for themselves\, and the opportunity to share experiences and insights with others. About half of the session will be talk/discussion and about half will be meditation. \nIf you are not a CALL member\, you can join for the annual fee of $50 and attend this and many other interest groups.
