DESCRIPTION:Artist Statement – Inna Nagaytseva\nIn a week my personal exhibition “Northern Dreams” will open in Calgary.\n\n\n\nNorthern Dreams is not just watercolour paintings. This is the strength and beauty of the most picturesque places for me. They symbolize silence and tranquility\, they move consciousness to where the soul connects with nature\, which for me\, as an artist\, is a very important factor in the development of a person. I invite you to visit these places with me\, through my paintings\, which I painted with extraordinary love.\n\n\n\nAll works presented at the exhibition are available for purchase\, 20% of sales will be sent to help families in Ukraine.\n\n\n\nIf you are unable to attend Calgary\, the exhibition will be available online on my website. DESCRIPTION:Growing up in Vernon’s Chinatown during the era of Chinese Exclusion\, Larry Kwong would break stereotypes and barriers to become the first player of Asian descent in the NHL. \nIn The Shift\, Larry Kwong recounts his experiences on and off the ice\, supported by historians who establish the social context and by hockey legends like Jean Beliveau and Herb Carnegie who attest to his exceptional skill. \nProduced in 2013\, this 45-minute film was a best documentary finalist at the Alberta Film & TV Awards. \nJoin us for this one-time screening to celebrate the 100th birthday of the late Larry Kwong\, the Okanagan’s first NHL player and one of hockey’s great trailblazers and builders. \nDoors open at 5:15.
